Since one of the benefits of attending trade shows is to get to know the people behind the brands better, I asked some of the exhibitors attending KidShow Las Vegas (February 13-15 at Bally’s) to preview the Must-See in their collections and a favorite Must-Do while in Las Vegas. And since the show is in luck city, I wanted to know about the luckiest thing that has ever happened to them in their lives. Because the February KidShow is over Valentine’s Day, it was inspiring to learn that many replied that they were most lucky in love –– lucky to have their spouse, children and career in the children’s business. Watch a Cirque du Soleil Show. In my opinion one of the best Cirque shows is “O,” but they are all great.

It is hard to choose this season, we have many great looks that hit upon some key trends but since we have to pick, I will go with the Titanic “birds take flight” drop waist dress. Drop waists are on the runway for fall for women; we think they are fabulous for girls. The print is large and whimsical, and of course the oversized bow makes the dress one in a million. This is the dress that in the window, makes you go in the store.
Must-Do…
My favorite thing to do in Las Vegas is to eat at the Bellagio Buffet. It is fantastic, wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere, lots of laughter, a great place to celebrate at the end of a great show!

The luckiest thing that ever happened to me is my husband. I just adore him.

Go see Cirque du Soleil “O” at Bellagio. It’s a must-see event. I took my wife to see it on Valentine’s Day and we will never forget it.

The Luckiest I’ve Been …
At a small casino in Lake Tahoe, my sister gave me $20 to play the $1 machine (I had reached my limit). The machine was jammed, and after three attempts by the attendant to fix it, I insisted it was really OK, I didn’t need to play. On her next attempt, she got it working, so I played my $20 with no wins. Then all of a sudden a $6 credit appeared, so I pulled the handle and won $2,500!

One of our must see items is our couture dress. When we first listed it on a major website we sold out in 26 seconds. People love it, and in person it’s even cuter! It’s a definite sell in any store… It was also on Bravo TV!
Must-Do…
A favorite place of mine when I visit Vegas is The Venetian. I love it there; make sure to take a ride on the gondola.
The Luckiest I’ve Been…
I have had many lucky things happen to me in life. Things some people may take for granted. I am so lucky to have four happy and healthy children and a wonderful husband who stands by me no matter what. In business, I am very lucky that I have great customers who are loyal and always come back. It is very competitive so I am grateful they love my stuff and can’t wait to see what’s next from Olive and Plums.

In all honesty I am extremely excited about our entire Fall ‘12 line – 17 styles total. But if I had to pick, it’d be our “Save The Moms” design. It’s one of our signature guitar looks with an ‘80s vibe. We drape a flying V guitar graphic over the back of the shirt with a checkerboard strap across the front with the phrase “Save The Moms.” Attached to the strap is a pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness. Very cool!
Must-Do…
I’m a simple southern boy who grew up on Del Taco, but since then they closed all of them on the East Coast. The first thing I do when I land in Vegas is make a bee line to the local Del Taco. If you’re not into fine dining, then I’d probably recommend seeing “O.”

I won the first professional poker tournament I ever played in. I immediately took my winnings, walked over to the roulette table, put everything on black, won again and went to bed!

Since we’re a brand new pajama line on the market — everything’s a must-see! If we had to pick our one sought-after item for Fall 2012, it would be our two-piece girl’s “Hatuna Mattata” pjs. Little girls love the vibrant pinks in the print and the ultra-soft inside-brushed cotton, and moms love the play on words and sushi theme! Everyone loves the fact that there isn’t a single itchy tag on any piece in the line.
Must-Do…
Hands-down, our ‘must-do’ when in Vegas is eating at Nobu at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. As you can tell, we love our sushi and both the food and the vibe there is amazing!

I recommend going to M&M world. Yummy! I buy special colors for those special peeps in my life. When I have time, I go explore the beautiful landscape off of the strip. But, with this being a quick trip, taking in the strip –– shows, food, more food and a little slot action!

I hit all fives on a slot machine the last time I was in Vegas! The machine was going wild. How much did I win? It was 1,000… nickels!

For Le Top: The fall collection in Le Top includes some beautiful and fun original prints for girls — paired up with coordinating tights. These dress and tight combinations represent a great value, and the original designs mean that you won’t see the print or tights anywhere else in the market.
For Rabbitmoon:
The boy’s collection in Rabbitmoon is a change in pace for us. All of the boy’s groupings coordinate with essential pieces that work in all three collections — these essential pieces include knit and woven pants, and a great sherpa lined faux suede vest and jacket. Speaking of luck, this year in the Chinese Lunar calendar is the year of the dragon, which is the luckiest year of all! The luckiest thing that has ever happened to both Paul and I is the day that we began our business 32 years ago in a small office in South San Francisco, California.
