At one time or another, even the most-cherished child may feel he or she isn’t worthy of being loved. Maybe a big brother has been unkind to a younger sibling and been reprimanded. Or, a kid gets angry at the playground and is given a time-out under Mom’s not-too-pleased eye. For a story that helps build self-esteem while pointing out that everyone deserves love no matter what difficulties have transpired, consider Dorothy and the Good Shepherd, the first title in the Lamplight series from Cane Creek Publishers.

Do you remember the fun of making paper crafts when you were a kid? It’s still very much in style and nowhere is it expressed with more originality than with Piperoid, incredibly cool robots made entirely out of paper. Futuristic-looking Piperoids hail from Japan where they won the Good Design Award. They’re a breeze to put together, as each robot is made of colorful paper tubes with pre-drilled holes so older children can cut, fold, and connect the pipes without having to fumble with sticky, messy glue or tape. The only tool needed is a pair of scissors!

Any mother of a little boy knows that the clothing gifts don’t come nearly as quickly, and often aren’t as cute as those that welcome a girl. Sweater vests and one-pieces with silk-screened graphics do not a boy baby’s wardrobe make, especially in the view of hipster moms. The celebrity baby boom has inspired modern moms to look for the hottest new trends in baby clothes, and you can’t ask for better press than City Threads. When your name has been associated with the tiny tots of celebrity cool kids, the clothes are an easier sell. Add to the celebrity appeal the fact that the apparel is made in the U.S.A., and you’ve got a goldmine.

Hmmm… Mompreneur…..is that my title? I guess it may just be a more exotic word for “Multitasker”! Here’s how it played out yesterday…

I’m sitting with the other neighborhood moms at the park, keeping an eye at C splashing his guts out at the water sprinklers, thinking about (or trying not to!) the list of “things that need to get done today” waiting for me at my desk. I take out a notepad and begin working on some txt updates for my website that need to get done.

It’s been said that necessity is the mother of invention, and that is certainly true for some of today’s creative children’s apparel. Children’s fashion has never under estimated the creativity of moms. The Giggle Guide® takes a closer look at mom designers that “toe the line” during a time when more brands and styles of socks are available than ever before. One pair of socks per day for children is simply not enough. Hosiery by Hank & JoJo, Celeste Stein Designs, SmartKnitKIDS, and BabyLegs are made to increase foot traffic!
