In honor of yesterday’s Father’s Day, we are continuing the celebration of dads with a very special edition of the Spider Insider. Meet Itzy Ritzy CEO Brian Douglas, dad to three beautiful children, in our Parent Profile. Brian may enjoy his role running Itzy Ritzy, but he says “being a dad is the absolute best”!

Name: Brian Alexander Douglas

Names of kids/ages/genders/and what they’re into these days:
I have three wonderful children, two daughters and one son.
Brinkley, age 6 ½, just finished kindergarten. She loves school and sports, including soccer, baseball, gymnastics and swimming.
Elle, age 4, is a beautiful little spitfire.She loves knock-knock jokes and just started playing soccer.
Last, but not least, is our newest arrival, Brooks Alexander Douglas (“BAD Jr.”). Brooks is 3 ½ months old and smiles on command.

Favorite Itzy Ritzy fabric:
Hmmm, tough one as I clearly like all of them. If I had to choose, I’d probably pick Social Circle Blue…or, maybe, Urban Jungle Blue.

What surprised Brian the most about becoming a dad:
I always thought that it would be awesome but I never could have imagined the pure joy that comes with watching, raising and growing with your children. Whether it’s a good grade in school, a goal in a game or a first step, experiencing life’s moments with my children is the best.

Favorite meal to prepare with your child/children:
Saturday morning breakfast. I love to make a big breakfast for the kids on the weekends. We put music on in the kitchen and the girls love to “help” with the cooking. Also, it reminds me of my dad when I was little.

How being a dad affects Brian’s work at Itzy Ritzy:
Incredibly helpful. I think that it helps bring additional insight into the products and fabrics that we design. Also, being a parent helps to keep work in perspective (I have a tendency to work long hours).

Brian’s advice for someone about to become a first time dad:
No unsolicited advice from me on this. We all do the best that we can which is enough. The only thing that I would say, being a dad is the absolute best and you’re going to love it!
