Another Season, Another Show & Sell!

Design. Manufacture. Show. Sell. Ship. Repeat.

There’s never a lull in the business of children’s fashion, accessories and gifts. We’re all familiar with the juggling act of selling for this season while preparing and stocking for the next.

“You’re never fully dressed without a smile” as the Annie anthem goes, but it doesn’t hurt to also wear coordinating hair accessories, a knockout dress, fancy coat and step-out-in-style shoes. Those who shop for girls want their little miss sunshine to look adorable from top to toes. Styles that go along with what the adult world is wearing are fun for all, especially when manufacturers interpret mini-me clothing that remains age-appropriate. These vendors offer stylish merchandise that’s fashionable, tasteful and well-made. Need immediates? Help your customers dress their best at all the celebrations of fall and the holiday season with Liv and Lily, Donita, Biscotti and Rachel Shoes.

Some children’s brands focus on “the look” while others capitalize on “the message.” be you. be true. promotes creativity, involvement and achievement among girls. Envision a young woman in a T-shirt that encourages her to “be a warrior” or “be a band geek.” Other shirts, featuring the illustrated little miss pink character, suggest that girls can “be a pal,” “be awesome,” and even “be nerdy,” a message not heard often enough. The point be you. be true. makes is that the simple act of being oneself is what counts.

For basics that go the extra mile, necessories (necessary accessories) from Bella Tunno top the list of must-haves, but it wasn’t always this way. In 2005, founder Michelle Tunno Buelow was a new mom, frustrated because she wanted items she couldn’t find — necessities with panache. With a small goal and a big heart, Tunno Buelow began by selling home-made burp cloths out of her house. Word spread, her brand found wings and other items including Bella Bibs, Binker Pacifier Clips and Diaper Ditties were added. Today, Bella Tunno proudly offers merchants over 400 product styles and options.

Anthem of the Ants is a well-loved girl’s clothing company creating vintage style garments for sizes 12 months to 12 years, all designed and manufactured in Los Angeles. Created by designer Lynn Keyes in 2010, the line was born from her love of denim and a desire to create items as unique and individual as the girls who wear them. Inspired from decades past and with attention to every detail, wash finish, buttons and trims; Anthem of the Ants crafts a well-made product combining vintage elements and silhouettes with a sophisticated, modern perspective.

One of the tasks on the road to independence for youngsters is being able to get dressed with help. When clothes are easy to deal with, it gives kids an invaluable step up leading to an “I-can-do-it-all-myself” moment. In addition to helping hold up pants, Velcro belts from Myself Belts boost esteem when a potty-training toddler or preschooler manages without adult help. All belts in this line use the company’s patented one-handed Velcro closure and also offer an optional buckle that sits at the child’s waist, but is just to provide a more traditional look.

Summer is the season of sunshine, but it’s also a time when baby showers reign. If you carry poème & poésie in your stores, there will be no need to include a gift receipt in the card. You will be offering something personal that goes beyond the obligatory oohs and aahs at the party. Saranga Weerasuriya designed the collection with her mother to reflect her heritage and family traditions. From mother to daughter, clothes and linens have been hand-sewn for each and every new arrival, boy or girl, in her family. Bloomers, shirts, gowns, blankets and swaddling cloths are a few of the signature pieces.
