Sweet and simple but with a little edge. At first, these sound like opposing concepts, but closer examination shows they can exist in a delightfully complementary way. The designers at Go Gently Baby want to express their respect for Mother Earth, so they only use certified organic fabrics, dyes, water-based inks and sustainable materials in their offerings. New looks include the simple chic of the Raw Edge Bow Pullover and Fleece Pullover Dress. The nature-loving Girl and Fawn image appears on many items, expressing kindness to all living things.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, millions of people suffer from sensitive skin issues. Kids are especially vulnerable to their environment. Unfortunately, products or medicines designed to treat a health issue can become a problem on their own. While no one can dispute the wonders of modern medicine, families are always on the lookout for products that are natural and have been proven to be safe. Companies like Canus are delivering quality products that every member of the family can feel good about using.

It’s encouraging to see companies manufacturing their products in the U.S.A. Today, consumers are more conscious and making a real effort to buy from manufacturers that produce their products in America. Buying North American products is a great way to support the companies that are providing jobs and opportunity to homeland workers. Sweet Spud, Bambino Burper, Mood Lights and Winsome Fragrance Co. are some U.S.A.-based companies that are producing innovative products and supporting the American economy.

What do your customers do when they feel down, confused or angry? Young kids often don’t know how to work out their feelings and, when problems get bottled up, they can become miserable. Here’s a clever solution! The Feeling Bag is a short, simple book that deals with emotions and how to release them. The original book was developed by writer Jennifer Griffin when she noticed her young daughter going through tough times brought about by a difficult period. The book comes in a choice of boy or girl versions. With each book comes a plush Feeling Bag that kids can punch and hit or hug and take to bed.

Imagine for a moment a village in Nepal with lullabies lilting in the background, crooned by mothers to their children. Clothing is loose and constructed of exotic prints that evoke a far away culture. Inspiration for children’s clothing can come in many forms. In the case of Ketiketa, a traditional Nepalese fabric was the jumping off point. Starting with “dumbar kumara”, the designers of Ketiketa turned their love of this block printed fabric into a collection of clothes and decorative accessories for boys and girls under 10. Even the label’s name has Nepalese roots with the combined “keti” (girl) and “keta” (boy) making up its presentation.

When it comes to design, most infant and toddler bottles tend more towards the utilitarian. They may consist of a clear, smooth plastic cylinder or be constructed of a lightweight glass, but a bottle is usually a bottle. And while there is nothing wrong with getting the job done, why not make mealtimes a little more enjoyable? Bottle Pets, developed by two mompreneurs who wanted to make feeding time a fun time, bring together two things that babies really like: milk and toys. They also bring together what families crave: convenience and peace of mind.

They may be seduced by television and video games, but every kid loves a good craft project. With products by Easy Student Publishing, any budding bard can publish simply by uploading their original writing and illustrations. Parents can arm their iPads with a protective case that interacts with the ArtSee Studio app to transform kids’ masterpieces into animated games and activities. Turn the results into museum-quality showpieces with My Art Gallery — funky yet functional frames. With Press-N-Paint, kids can mix paints without spilling a drop. Make summer fun and stock your shelves with these creative solutions.

If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve already seen this quote, “The customer doesn’t care.” I wish I could take credit for having uttered this phrase but alas it was actually Gary Wassner of the factoring firm Hilldun who made this proclamation at an event I attended recently. Out of all the insightful things he said, this was the one that really jumped out at me because it’s true: The customer really doesn’t care.
